Community fund invests in greenhouse

A community fund designated for good causes in the town of Corby, Northamptonshire has been used to provide a local hospice with a new greenhouse, according to reports.

Corby councillors had several thousand pounds to invest in a project they felt would help the local community and it was decided that the patients at the Lakelands Day Care Hospice would be able to make use of a new greenhouse.

The facility's fundraising manager Jo Plant told the Evening Telegraph that many of her patients had expressed an interest in using the glasshouse and plans are in place to establish a gardening club.

"We are delighted with it - we have wanted a large greenhouse for a while but didn't have the funds to buy one," Ms Plant explained.

"It means the patients and volunteers now have access to a superb new greenhouse," she added.

Earlier this week, a number of Corby residents decided to tidy up their local housing estate as part of a "spring clean" community action project.
