12:06:20 22nd June 2009

Homebuilder Barratt has announced a celebrity horticulturalist will be appearing at a number of its developments in south Wales next month.

Terry Walton is a garden and greenhouse expert, whose credits include numerous contributions to BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show.

Mr Walton will distribute tips and advice to those looking at showhomes with Barratt and anyone who reserves a new property on the day will receive a £50 starter pack to grow their own vegetables, as well as a signed book from the specialist.

They will also be entered into (a) competition to win a £3,000 landscaped garden.

Barratt south Wales sales director Adrian Bird explained Mr Walton is looking forward to sharing his secrets.

"We will be giving everyone free seeds on the day and serving up a delicious barbeque, so I'd encourage homebuyers and anyone interested in horticultural matters to join us for a great day out," he said.

Mr Walton told the BBC he has been a gardening fanatic since the age of four, taking on his first allotment aged 11.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19229461-ADNFCR
