New Hybrid Tea rose is "comfortably traditional"

Those who are in their element in a greenhouse may want to know more about a "comfortably traditional" Hybrid Tea rose introduced this week at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Graham Rice, blogger for the Royal Horticultural Society's website, talked to Lincolnshire-based company Style Roses about the flower, which is being shown off at the Tudor Rose Festival.

About three feet high, it has dark mature foliage with buds that open pink and reveal white colouring as they roll back, making the outer petals "almost white".

Style Roses' Chris Styles told Mr Rice: "It has attractive dark pink buds which open up into large, high centred, Hybrid Tea-style blooms of baby pink - produced singly and in clusters of up to five blooms per stem on strong sturdy upright growth."

He added that the foliage is red and bronze but then darkens to a satisfying olive green.

The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show ends on July 12th.
