RHS to host Dig Together Day

13:07:20 17th July 2009

Garden and greenhouse growers are being asked to unite and pass on growing tips to the next generation of enthusiasts.

The Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Dig Together Days will take place on September 1st, 5th and 6th.

Everyone in the UK with a knowledge of gardening is being asked to share it with others and the events will begin with a village fete-type festivity in St James' Park, London.

Individual gardening clubs around the country will then use the weekend of September 5th and 6th to stage a number of events.

"We know that our gardening societies and clubs are the custodians of grassroots gardening," explained RHS director general Inga Grimsey.

She stated they are all great places to pick up growing tips and hopes the Dig Together Days will help boost membership numbers and encourage more people to take up the pastime.

Those attending the St James' Park event will be given a tour of the site's allotments, where they may be able to pick up some pointers for their own vegetable patch.

Horticulturalists who cannot wait to get some greenhouse growing tips might also wish to head to RHS Garden Wisley, which is holding a Berrylicious Weekend, starting tomorrow (July 18th).ADNFCR-1495-ID-19270546-ADNFCR
