Garden firms could work together

16:01:20 6th January 2010

Garden and greenhouse fans may be interested to hear that Worcestershire-based Webbs is hoping to strike a deal with Garden Organic over a potential deal for a Warwickshire site.

The plan would see garden centre firm Webbs take on its retail, conference and catering operations at Ryton.

Garden Organic would continue to run the 8.9-hectare organic garden and continue with its administration of charitable activities and research.

It is expected that the full details of the union will be confirmed early next month, with the deal partially aimed at boosting the profile of Garden Organic to help its success in 2010.

One of the main benefits for garden and greenhouse lovers is the possibility of greater access to heirloom varieties available in Garden Organic's Heritage Seed library.

Meanwhile, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has advised gardeners to have a look at its Recommended Gardens, many of which look particularly spectacular in winter.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19542944-ADNFCR
