Garden and greenhouse attractions for Valentine's Day

11:02:20 8th February 2010

Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts are being encouraged to take advantage of the UK's horticultural attractions for Valentine's Day.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) suggested that a romantic stroll around one of the country's garden landscapes could be the ideal way to spend the day.

One of the best places to visit, according to the organisation, is Somerset's Hestercombe, which offers an 18th century Georgian landscape garden.

Visitors will feel like they are "stepping into a painting" when they visit the wooded valley with its circular walks, lakes, grottoes and temples.

Another good place to visit is Cheshire's Rode Hall, which features a snowdrop trail beginning at its Top Lodge and travelling through Old Wood and taking in a large glasshouse filled with hyacinths and Camellia 'Kramer's Supreme'.

RHS members can gain entry to these attractions for free throughout the month of February.

Meanwhile, the RHS recently revealed that seed firm Thompson & Morgan has finally completed its takeover food company Chempak after protracted discussions over the deal.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19602169-ADNFCR
