Sir David Attenborough’s urban garden given green light

Sir David Attenborough has been given the green light to transform a former beer garden into a mini wildlife haven.

The broadcaster purchased the land surrounding the disused Hole in the Wall pub in Richmond, West London, last year and immediately submitted plans to transform the outdoor space into a wildlife garden.

Now, with the local council having given him the go-ahead, Sir David will work on transforming the space into a bio-diverse local garden, with a special greenhouse, as well as a bog garden and an orchard to be created over the coming months, the Richmond and Twickenham Times has reported.

Local residents have welcomed the news, believing that it will enhance the area‘s natural environment while also encouraging more wildlife to settle in this part of West London.

At the same time, the government is set to turn over thousands of new allotments, located on disused land across the country, to the public in an effort to help people to grow their own produce.
