Greenhouse and gardening enthusiasts may be interested to hear the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has started a new scheme to provide wild birds and insects to Bupa care home gardens in Powys.
Called Homes for Wildlife, the project will encourage some of Britain's endangered species such as house sparrows, song thrushes, bees and butterflies, to flourish once again.
Mike Walker, reserve manager at RSPB Lake Vyrnwy in Powys, said Bupa staff and residents in the region are excited about the project.
He went on to say he hopes they will enjoy the good things that an outside space can provide, especially to those recovering from illness.
"The benefits of gardening also include increased physical and mental activity, a sense of purpose and opportunities to develop friendships," he explained.
Head gardener at Pensthorpe Imogen Checketts recently told the Norwich Evening News that gardening can be great for people's wellbeing.
