Sid Valley celebrates successful gardening and craft show

Sid Valley Horticultural Society celebrated its 83rd annual gardening and craft show on Saturday with around 600 people in attendance at the Village Hall, greenhouse enthusiasts may be interested to hear.

The show saw an increase of around 50 entrants this year, with schools asked to only submit their best work so the committee could cope with the increase in entries.

Chairman of Sidmouth Town Council Stuart Hughes also visited the show to present a £250 grant to help with the running costs of the annual extravaganza.

Show secretary Beryl Kingsman paid tribute to the people that helped make the event possible.

"The show has been a great success with around 600 visitors coming through the doors. We have made enough money to secure the show next year and we are so pleased," she told View Online.

According to Garden Tools for All Season, the Shrewsbury Flower Show is the longest running horticultural show having been established 136 years ago.ADNFCR-16000279-ID-800708307-ADNFCR
