Greenhouse enthusiasts will be heartened to learn that Tiverton Hospital in Devon has opened a new garden to act as an inspiration to both patients and their relatives.
The garden – nautically themed – was opened this week after patients contributed their own ideas to the project, which forms part of their occupational therapy rehabilitation.
Les Hickman the cluster manager for Tiverton at the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust told This is the West Country he was delighted the garden has served as an inspiration for people.
"It is the result of a joint commitment between service users and staff, all of whom have been motivated to use their gardening skills to create an area full of inspiration for the future," he added.
According to the NHS Trust Devon, occupational therapy is used to help develop, improve, restore or maintain a person's skills and abilities for daily living and can affect any number of ailments including recovery from accidents or strokes.
