Demand for quality home improvement ‘surges’

Homeowners are increasingly looking to make quality improvements to their property – which could well include the installation of greenhouses or glasshouses – new research suggests.

A study by building and architecture firm Ironmongery Direct indicates that the recent downturn in the UK economy – as a result of the credit crunch – has led to many people choosing to shelve plans to move home and instead focus on improving their own property.

Wayne Lysaght-Mason, managing director of the firm, comments: “The evidence from sales at Ironmongery Direct points to homeowners rejecting the smaller DIY jobs around the house and opting to make major, quality improvements to their properties instead.”

In related news, Joe Swift, gardening expert and presenter of BBC television‘s Gardener‘s World programme, stated in recent days that garden structures such as summer houses continue to be popular purchases for people looking to improve the value of their home.ADNFCR-1495-ID-18575280-ADNFCR
