James May garden to feature at RHS Chelsea

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show is to feature the work of a renowned petrol-head.

While fast cars and gardens might not necessarily be the best mix, Top Gear presenter James May is set to get his hands dirty creating a garden for the show.

The five metre by seven metre display will be made from plasticine and plants and will feature on his BBC2 show James May‘s Toy Stories.

“We‘re open to new ideas and concepts at Chelsea and always looking at ways to give visitors new experiences and push boundaries, as well as including more traditional designs,” explained show manager Alex Baulkwill, who added that he was looking forward to seeing May‘s creation.

The TV personality, who once crossed the English Channel with friends Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond in a pickup truck converted into a boat, will have ten days to create his work of art.

It will be one of 40 displays at the world-famous show and gardeners interested in attending to pick up some tips have been urged to book early to avoid disappointment.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19080276-ADNFCR
