Holker Garden Festival set to welcome celeb horticulturalist

Gardening expert and former TV host Monty Don is set to be one of the guests of honour at an upcoming green-fingered event.

He will attend this weekend‘s Holker Garden Festival, where Cumbria‘s greenhouse enthusiasts will likely trade tips on seeds and plants.

“It is a tremendous event, in a fabulous setting, which has a distinctive local character that makes it unique,” Don explained.

The former Gardeners‘ World presenter, who now contributes to the Daily Mail‘s gardening section, added he was “very much looking forward” to attending the festival.

Set in 17,000 acres of English countryside, the Holker Estate will welcome horticulture lovers with a marquee containing a range of exotic varieties from around the world – including a few carnivorous species.

However, it will also have some quintessentially British displays of roses, sweetpeas and carnations, among others.

The event runs from this Friday (May 29th) and finishes on Sunday.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19188358-ADNFCR
