A national newspaper has given garden and greenhouse owners some growing tips to take into the autumn and winter seasons.
The Guardian advised horticulture fans to sow sweet peas now in order to give them growing time over the winter.
This means they will flower early in spring and give the garden a jump start when the frosts start to melt away.
It suggested that those with mice problems should germinate the seeds on a piece of wet kitchen roll first, before potting them in a cold frame or sheltered spot.
Meanwhile, greenhouse owners should be preparing their glasshouse for any tender plants it is to protect over the winter period.
The newspaper said that growers should give the structure a good clean and add bubble wrap to the windows to help insulate it during the harsh winter,
Last week, the newspaper suggested that gardeners recycle their greenhouse grow bags and containers by using them to cultivate winter salads.
