New book to educate garden and greenhouse fans on bulbs

Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts may be interested in a new book from The Tulip author Anna Pavord.

Bulb is a guide to the best-looking bulbs from around the world and covers many of the writer‘s favourite specimens, according to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

Priced at £27 from publisher Mitchell Beazley, the guide is available through the RHS online bookshop.

It offers a “fascinating introduction explaining why bulbs are different from other kinds of plant”, the gardening body said.

Exploring where bulbs come from, the text explains the history between different varieties and is laid out in an easy to navigate alphabetical manner from Acis to Zigadenus.

The RHS is giving away three copies of the book on its website, with entrants asked to answer a question based on an excerpt published on the online resource.

In other news, the RHS has revealed that Scotland‘s Floors Castle has installed a biomass boiler to help it become more environmentally-friendly.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19442946-ADNFCR
