Spring greenhouse advice

Greenhouse owners and those with plants growing inside their house may wish to heed some advice from one of the country‘s main botanic bodies.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), now is the time to increase watering of such specimens.

As the warmer weather arrives, conditions will begin to heat up quickly for plants growing under glass and it is important to ensure they do not dry out.

Growers should check if their crops need watering at least once every few days and give them a liquid feed when they begin to show signs of growth.

Spiky plants should be cleaned with a soft brush, while those with shiny leaves can be washed with a damp cloth.

Now is also a good time to perform greenhouse maintenance and cleansing ahead of the busy growing season.

Any fallen compost and debris should be brushed up and dead leaves removed from plants to help improve hygiene levels.

In other news, the RHS held its Cardiff Show over the weekend (April 16th to 18th), which is one of many events taking place throughout the summer.ADNFCR-1495-ID-19729076-ADNFCR
