RHS appoints new vice-presidents

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has announced the appointment of a number of new vice-presidents.

Helping to guide the body – which gives advice on growing in gardens and greenhouses – will be Alan Tichmarsh, Lord Heseltine and Dr Kiat Tan.

Tichmarsh is a respected horticulturalist who already works with the RHS to promote the science in schools and is well known for his work on the BBC‘s Ground Force programme.

He supports the Campaign for School Gardening, which allows educational institutions to apply for a £500 grant to help develop their green space.

Former deputy prime minister Lord Heseltine is currently chair of the Haymarket Media Group, which counts Horticulture Week and Garden retail among its titles.

He owns one of the most important tree collections in the UK and is a keen grower.

Joining them in their roles as vice-presidents will be former director of Singapore‘s National Parks Board Dr Tan.
