Two garden and greenhouse enthusiasts will see their landscaping ideas turned into reality following the results of a recent competition.
Run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the Olympic Park Great British Garden Competition was won by Malmesbury resident Hannah Clegg and Colchester grower Rachel Read.
Both will now have their ideas created within the London 2012 Park in the east end of the capital in time for the start of the Olympic Games.
More than 200 horticulture enthusiasts entered the competition, with 4,000 members of the public voting, the RHS revealed.
Ms Read won the adult category, while 11-year-old Ms Clegg scooped the kids‘ prize, explaining that she was “so excited that I jumped up and down”.
The younger gardener included secret objects such as golden acorns, silver sundials and bronze water features in her design.
Meanwhile, Ms Read used a circular theme with a spiralling cinder path surrounded by raised beds and featuring plaques with the names of each British gold medallist since 1908.
The London Olympic Games begin on July 27th and last until August 12th 2010, while the Paralympics will run from August 29th to September 9th.
