The garden and greenhouse community is mourning the passing of one of its key figures.
Professor John MacLeod died on Friday (June 18th) night after a long battle with illness, according to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
The botany expert was the organisation‘s vice-chairman of council and had recently agreed to become a vice-president.
He was to be honoured at the RHS‘ annual general meeting on July 1st, which may now be used for attendees to remember Professor MacLeod.
A member of council for a decade, the gardening fan also acted as chairman of the science and horticultural advice committee, a member of the business committee and a garden advisor for Hyde Hall council.
In other news, the RHS recently revealed that Hertfordshire‘s The Gardens of the Rose are to open this summer, contrary to an earlier decision to remain closed following an ongoing dispute over parking access with the nearby Butterfly World.
