Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts hoping to apply to become the second horticultural intern at London‘s Garden Museum have just over two weeks to apply.
Applications for the internship close on August 20th and those with an interest in the role have been encouraged to act fast.
According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), last year‘s intern Matthew Collins was given the opportunity to flex his gardening muscles across a range of projects.
These included helping Mark Gregory build his RHS Chelsea Flower Show gold medal-winning garden and shadowing design expert Tom Stuart-Smith.
“There‘s been lots of responsibility and a lot of freedom,” Mr Collins explained.
“You learn very quickly – it‘s been my first genuine opportunity to run a garden.”
He added that while there was always expert supervision, he was given free rein in a number of tasks, including designing and planting a large showcase border outside of the Garden Museum.
Meanwhile, the RHS recently reported that the number of people growing their own food in the UK seems to be on the increase.
